Congratulations to Alison Hassell who is now a licenced Reader at our church. Her licencing took place at Chichester Cathedral on 24th September 2013.

Read the news article here about her Licencing Day.

At our Church Council meeting in July 2013 we updated our plans for the future.

In common with many Christian organisations, we have a simple Mission Statement:

TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN

Here are some of the things we hope to do over the next year:

  • Maintain our rolling programme of Alpha or similar courses to encourage understanding of the Christian faith
  • Launch a central church prayer meeting to complement the prayer currently taking place in smaller groups
  • Increase our provision of Bible study groups and pastoral groups
  • Organise more special events
  • Support the growth of St Mary's Nursery
  • Improve the welcome area of St Mary's

Over the following two years or so we believe that God is calling us to establish stable finances for the parish and to carry out a comprehensive audit of leadership skills and training needs within our fellowship.

These are exciting times  -  why not join us!

Mothers' Union is Christian organisation which promotes the wellbeing of families worldwide, developing prayer and spiritual growth.

The Mission objectives for the Mothers Union:

  • To promote and support married life.
  • To encourage parents in their role to develop the faith of their children.
  • To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.
  • To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children.
  • To help those where family life has met with adversity.
  • We support various charities here in Battle.
  • Mothers Union Overseas Fund, particularly Literacy and Development, allowing dreams to turn to reality for thousands of learners.
  • St. Mary's Church Busy Bees, a drop in centre for parents and toddlers, where children play while Mum or Dad chat and enjoy a cuppa.

We meet on the first Thursday in the month in the Benedicta Whistler centre from 10.30am for Communion and at 11.30am for the start of the meeting (except Jan and August. In July we have a summer picnic and in December an afternoon tea!!). Lunch is served at about 12.45pm. You would be most welcome to join us, more information about our branch and meetings contact the Mothers Union branch secretary.

As a church we rely heavily on donations, legacies and fundraising to help meet some of the running and upkeep costs of both our churches and staff.  Gift Aid donations are especially helpful because we are also able to claim back income tax, thereby significantly increasing the value of your gift.

As some of our supporters prefer to make regular donations, we have produced a Standing Order Form which means it is easier to donate through the banking system. To download a Standing Order Form, or the Gift Aid Form please click on links below. The forms will open in a new Window.

Please complete and sign the form and return it to one of the Churchwardens at either St. Mary's or Telham.

Thank you for your valuable support.

We are looking for two more people to join our team of crucifers, to carry the processional cross at the 9:30 service on Sunday mornings. We have a rota and you would be asked to commit to one Sunday per month.  If this is something you feel you would like to do, please get in touch.
