The Alpha Course has now finished - if you have missed it, don't worry! Please give your name to The Dean and if there is enough interest, we shall run another one.  It is for everyone who would like to explore Life's big questions and is an ideal way to get to grips with some of the basics of the Christian faith.

Telham have received an enthusiastic Thank-You card from Saxonwood Care Home residents for the Harvest Gifts donated to them this year which they greatly enjoyed.

The Bishop of Chichester, the Rt. Revd. Dr. Martin Warner

Bishop Martin's Visitation to this Deanery is on Thursday, 24th October 2013. He will be in this Parish and interviewing our Dean and the Church Wardens, as well as taking the Holy Communion Service at St. Mary's on that day at the usual time of 10.30 a.m.

In the evening, he will be present at Deanery Synod which will be held at St. Peter's Centre, Bexhill, which starts with a bring and share buffet for Synod members and Readers, Church wardens and Treasurers. The Deanery Mission Action Plan will be discussed and each benefice is asked to make a short presentation entitled "Our achievements and our challenges in mission and finance over the past year". The presentations will subsequently form the basis for a further revision, this time in the new Diocesan Mission Action Plan format. Afterwards, there will be an open forum question and answers with the Bishop,  followed by Compline.

It will be good to see Bishop Martin again. He is already making an impression in this Diocese which is all to the good. Certainly Diocesan Synod events in his presence prove extremely interesting and informative.

Harvest Celebrations at Telham 2013

Congratulations to Alison Hassell who is now a licenced Reader at our church. Her licencing took place at Chichester Cathedral on 24th September 2013.

Read the news article here about her Licencing Day.

At our Church Council meeting in July 2013 we updated our plans for the future.

In common with many Christian organisations, we have a simple Mission Statement:

Here are some of the things we hope to do over the next year:

  • Maintain our rolling programme of Alpha or similar courses to encourage understanding of the Christian faith
  • Launch a central church prayer meeting to complement the prayer currently taking place in smaller groups
  • Increase our provision of Bible study groups and pastoral groups
  • Organise more special events
  • Support the growth of St Mary's Nursery
  • Improve the welcome area of St Mary's

Over the following two years or so we believe that God is calling us to establish stable finances for the parish and to carry out a comprehensive audit of leadership skills and training needs within our fellowship.

These are exciting times  -  why not join us!
